As I began the journey of homeschooling preschool, I knew I wanted to start teaching the alphabet in a fun and engaging way, without worksheets or videos. From my time working as a reading specialist, I was familiar with the Phonics Dance, one teacher's take on teaching children the various sounds for each letter of the alphabet. We made it about halfway through her version when it hit me that my children would probably remember the little jingles better if we used words/phrases that are unique to our family. 

I put together a Catholic alphabet that we plan to use as an alternative "phonics dance." I also made flashcards that you can print and hang or use to quiz your little ones on their letter recognition!
